Day 148 - Summer is over
Ben Hillyer, 2014
Now that August is over and the unofficial last day of summer has passed, I return with this photo from Labor Day morning in Kingston. I haven't had much time to focus on my personal project for various reasons, but here is the first of what I hope to be the last half of a great year of photos.
Day 147 — It's a cover up
Ben Hillyer, 2014
For the last several years, I have been photographing a collection of buildings on US 61 north of Natchez that have been swallowed up by Kudzu. Most seasons, part of the buildings are still visible. This year the unusually mild summer has spurred the vine to completely take over the building.
Day 145 — Hillside ingenuity
Ben Hillyer, 2014
You can tell that my mother in-law has no need for those specially made products with names like "swiffer." Why would she buy another gadget when she can make the same device out of things she has on hand — like a broom, a towel and a few clothespins. As someone who is interested in making things, I appreciate such ingenuity.
Day 144 — Next-door neighbor
Ben Hillyer, 2014
I am fortunate to drive by this scene on the way to my mother in-law's house. Even on the most frustrating of days, this scene has a way of providing a tiny bit of peace and comfort.
