Day 118 — Jefferson did not sleep here
Ben Hillyer, 2014
Wikipedia
If you drive down Stahlman Street in Natchez, you probably wouldn't think you were traveling down the front lawn of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The bank at the end of the street poses a striking resemblance to the architectural masterpiece of our third president. Unfortunately, the fast food signs, wooden fence, telephone poles and wires create an altogether different view of a building that would fit better in a landscape of trees and grass than of McDonald's and Taco Bell.
Day 117 — Night vision
Ben Hillyer, 2014
When I started this experiment more than 100 days ago, I thought it would be a way to take my camera and explore areas of my community that I don't normally visit. I do some of that, but more often than not I am discovering things about the neighborhood I live in (in a 4-block area) that I walk by everyday without paying much attention. This view for example is less than 100 steps from my front door.
Day 116 — Shadows and windows
Ben Hillyer, 2014
Which is more wild — the shadow of the tree, the number of windows in the church wall or the combination of both?
Day 115 — Mississippi container gardening
Ben Hillyer, 2014
Anything can make for a container garden in Mississippi. Just let it sit in the yard for a few days and the kudzu will fill it up in no time.
