Day 125 — Eye of beholder
Ben Hillyer, 2014
A view of ancient crape myrtle trees on Washington Street. When young the trees are known for their graceful slender limbs that twist and turn in a choreographed routine that is captivating. Over the years, I have also become interested in the form of the older trees that show their ages with crags, crevices, knots and bumps. They too are beautiful in their own unique way. Here is a quick study of the trees on Washington Street and a smaller view of how their trunks seemingly melt into the sidewalk.

Day 124 — Royal reflections
Ben Hillyer, 2014
There are things that make every town unique. Natchez has a few, including the annual Spring Pilgrimage and the Historic Natchez Pageant and the kings and queens of pilgrimage. The Carriage House in Natchez has a wall filled with portraits of royalty past that documents this tradition started in 1932.
