Day 158 — Prop up your feet
Ben Hillyer, 2014
If only Friday's were for sitting out on the porch. Morning light is beautiful this time of year. When the cooler weather comes this weekend maybe there will be a little time for sipping and reflecting.
Day 157 — Never Forget
Ben Hillyer, 2014
The sky is almost as clear blue today as it was 13 years ago.
Day 156 — In Living Color
Ben Hillyer, 2014
I had a wonderful visit with Robert Ferguson, who invited me to see his beautiful collection of orchids. These are just a few of the flowers that were blooming in his greenhouse. He has been cultivating orchids since he was 12 and still has the orchid that started his interest in these exotic flowers. A man with a great story and amazing collection of plants.
Day 155 — Close to home
Ben Hillyer, 2014
I am glad that I do not live next to the neighborhood shake shop, not because of noise or the steady stream of cars. The proximity to hamburgers, fries and shakes would just be too tempting.
Day 154 — Seeking shade
Ben Hillyer, 2014
Summer in the South means ditching the open parking space and searching out whatever bit of shade you can find — even if it means walking twice as far as the nearest space. This car found shade under the limbs of a tree across Canal Street from the newspaper's parking lot.
